Shipbreaking scrap registered an uptick on Thursday as demand drove prices up.
The daily Davis Indexes for 4Ani and 14Ani rose by Rs550/mt ($7.58/mt) each to Rs32,050/mt ($442.21/mt) and Rs35,900/mt ($495.30/mt) ex-Alang, respectively, amid improved demand after a brief lull.
The daily Davis Indexes for 0.5kg and 1kg plates rose by Rs600/mt each to Rs31,600/mt and Rs31,500/mt ex-Alang, respectively, amid a strong demand for finished steel from the construction and infrastructure sector.
The daily Davis Index for HMS attachment and Melting rose by Rs550/mt each to Rs31,400/mt and Rs30,400/mt ex-Alang, respectively with deals reported at current levels.
