India launches anti-dumping (AD) probe in the imports of certain flat-rolled products of aluminium originated in or exported from China. Indian primary aluminium manufacturer Hindalco Industries alleged that the imports of flat-rolled aluminium products are causing injury to the domestic industry.
The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) is probing the dumping from FY17 to December 2019.
DGTR’s notification said there is a significant increase in imports in two years till December 2019 as a result of surplus capacity in the subject country as a result of the ability to scale-up production in a short span. DGTR said that this is causing a threat of material injury to the domestic industry in India.
DGTR observed that imports are undercutting the prices in the domestic industry.
