Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

India’s total automobile production fell by 13.75pc to 18.92mn vehicles in Apr-Nov 2019 period compared to 21.94mn vehicles a year ago, according to Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). The figures include passenger vehicle, commercial vehicle, three-wheeler, two-wheeler and quadricycle. 

 

Domestic sales of passenger vehicle dropped by 17.98pc, wherein passenger car production declined by 22.12pc and van down by 35.28pc. Sale of utility vehicles increased by 3.83pc. 

 

Three-wheeler sales were down by 4.97pc, wherein passenger carrier sales declined by 4.46pc and goods carriers slid by 7.34pc. 

 

Two-wheeler sales declined by 15.74pc; scooter sales were down by 15.47pc, motorcycle down by 15.29pc and mopeds dipped by 25.25pc. 

 

Exports improve

Total automobile exports rose by 3.28pc, of which passenger vehicles grew by 5.36pc, two-wheelers up by 6.50pc. While commercial vehicles and three-wheeler exports dropped by 40pc and 10.23pc, respectively in the Apr-Nov period.
