Power failure at Alcoa’s Portland Al smelter
Australia-based aluminium smelter Alcoa in Portland faced power cuts at both potlines on Friday, as the electricity interconnector knocked down due to a hot spell in the country’s southeast region, company said.
Electricity at potline 1 was restored at about 5:40pm ESDT while, electricity at potline 2 was restored at around 5:10pm ESDT. Operations resumed at 55pc of line load
Rinl’s first batch of outsourced rebars dispatched
State-owned Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (Rinl) with an annual output capacity of 6.3mn mt had its first dispatch of rebars from a Hyderabad-based conversion facilities, on Jan 29.
The company provides raw material to the conversion agents who manufacture finished products beyond the range of Rinl.
