Iran has provisioned a three-month waiver for certain authorized steel manufacturing units, enabling them to export steel products including long sections, effective May 15, according to local media.
The ministry had banned exports of steel products and mandated steelmakers to offer their products through the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME).
Iran’s steel export in the course of the prior Iranian calendar year 1399 diminished by 13.1pc from the prior year, according to the Iranian Steel Producers Association’s data. The country is the world’s tenth-largest steelmaker with a production of 7.5mn mt of crude steel in Q1 FY2021, according to data released by the World Steel Association.
