Aluminum ingot production rose by 33pc in Iran during the two-month period of Mar 21-May 21 to 86,216mt compared with 64,689mt in the same timeframe last Iranian year, according to the country’s mining ministry. In the Iranian financial year, 1399 (period ended March 20, 2020) production tallied at 446,800mt over 278,318 in the prior year.
According to statistics, Iranian Aluminium Company (Iralco) was the largest producer last fiscal, contributing 185,000mt of aluminum ingots to the country’s production. Iran plans to hike production by 63pc by the end of this fiscal (March 20, 2022).
By 2026, Iran plans to produce around 1.5mn mt of aluminum ingots. The country’s former industry minister recently said that South Aluminium Company’s (Salco) newly inaugurated 300,000mt per year smelter in Fars will help to reach this goal.
