Iranian major automobile companies’ output increased by 10pc to 405,893 units in the first six months (March 20-Sept 21, 2020) of the Iranian calendar from the prior-year period, according to media reports.
In the period, Iran Khodro’s (IKCO) car production stood at 208,030 units, up by 40pc from the prior-year period, while the production by SAIPA declined by 12pc to 150,417 units from the prior year. Pars Khodro recorded a decline of 1.3pc to 47,446 units.
In a month – Aug 22-Sept 21, 2020, IKCO’s output grew by 15pc to 41,175 units from the prior month, while cars produced by SAIPA were 23,432 units, up by 20pc. Pars Khodro registered a three-digit growth of 123pc to 10,182 units.
Domestic automakers are planning to produce around 1.2mn units by the end of the current Iranian calendar, as per the Iranian government.
Foreign partners of Iranian carmakers have pulled out of the country after the US sanctions, which has gradually obstructed the supply of raw materials and auto parts, according to media reports.
