Production target
The country had aimed to increase its auto output by 50pc to 1.3mn units by March 2021. However, it could not achieve the target due to alleged mismanagement at auto companies and the pressure of the sanctions imposed by the US.
However, the Iranian government has stepped in to streamline the sector and become self-reliant on auto parts. The current year’s auto output target has been set at 1.25mn units.
