Car production in Iran was at 128,700 units, up 8.8pc for the first two calendar months ending May 21 from the prior-year period, according to the data by the Ministry of Industries (MIMT) cited by the local media.
In the period, production of trucks surged 12.9pc to 9,477 units. Combined production of trucks, small trucks, and truck cab jumped by 45pc to 956 units.
Production of buses, vans, and minibusses slipped 3.2pc to 215 vehicles in the two months from the same period of 2020. Tractor output fell 23.3pc to 2,036 units.
The domestic manufacturers dominated the local auto markets, while international brands accounted for minimal market share.
