Iran’s copper concentrate production in the first eleven months of the Iranian calendar (March 21, 2020-Feb 20, 2021) stood at 46mn mt, up by 6pc from the prior-year period, according to local media reports citing data by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro).
While the country’s copper cathode production in the Iranian year 1399 (Mar 21, 2020-Mar 20, 2021) grew by 12pc at 280,000mn mt from the preceding year, achieving a new record, as per media reports citing the Managing Director of National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO).
The projects being implemented in the next four years will increase the company’s total copper concentrate capacity to 2.3mn mt and add over 400,000mt to the country’s copper concentrate output. Iran’s mining and metals sector is improving despite the sanctions imposed by the US.
