Iran produced 33.16mn mt iron ore concentrates in the first eight months (Mar 20-Nov 20, 2020) of the Iranian year, up by 5pc from the prior-year period, according to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro) data.

In the eighth month (Oct 22-Nov 20), the country’s iron ore concentrate output rose by 10pc to 4.34mn mt from the prior year. The largest iron ore concentrate producer was Golgohar Mining and Industrial Complex which produced 1.5mn mt. It was followed by Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Complex which produced 1.1mn mt.
Iron ore pellet output
In the Mar-Nov period, Iran produced 30.7 mn mt of iron ore pellet, up by 11pc from the prior-year period, while in the eighth month, it grew by 15pc to 3.89mn mt from the preceding year.

In the eighth month, Mobarakeh Steel Company’s pellet output grew by 77pc, the highest growth among the companies, while Chadormalu’s output fell by 2pc, recording the sharpest decline among the main pellet producers.
DRI production
The production of direct-reduced iron (DRI) in the Mar-Nov period rose by 10pc to 20.72mn mt from the same period in the previous year, while in the eighth month, DRI output stood at 2.6mn mt, up by 8pc from the prior year.
MSC was the largest produced of DRI in the Mar-Nov period with an output of 5.21mn mt, up by 14pc from the previous year which was followed by KSC with 2.84mn mt, up by 8pc from the preceding year.
Golgohar Complex produced 1.95mn mt of DRI in the period, while Hormozgan Steel Company produced 1.144mn mt, up 5pc from the same period year prior.
In the eighth month, the highest DRI producer was MSC with 662,530mt of output, up by 31pc from the same month in the previous month.
