Iran’s total steel and steel product exports in the first 10 months (Mar 21, 2020-Jan 19, 2021) of the current Iranian calendar stood at 5.42mn mt, down by 13pc from the same period in the preceding year, according to media reports citing data released by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro).
In the tenth month (Dec 21, 2020-Jan 19, 2021) of the Iranian calendar, the company’s steel exports fell by 10pc to 656,817mt as compared to the same month in the preceding year.
A rise in demand at the domestic market and price control policies implemented by the authorities were among the main reasons for the decline in steel exports by the Iranian companies.
Company-wise steel exports
Iran-based manufacturer Khouzestan Steel Company’s (KSC) exports of steel slab, bloom, and billet in the first 10 months of the current Iranian calendar stood at 1.25mn mt, down by 19pc as compared to the prior-year period.
In the tenth month (Dec 21, 2020-Jan 19, 2021) of the Iranian calendar, the company’s slab, bloom, and billet exports fell by 11pc to 155,563mt from the same month in the preceding year.
Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC), the largest steel producer in Iran and the Middle East, exported 931,543mt of steel in the Mar-Jan period, registering a growth of 22pc from the same period in the year before, while in the tenth month, the company’s exports increased by 24pc to 125,573mt from the same period in the prior year.
In the Mar-Jan period, Esfahan Steel Company’s (ESCO) steel exports fell by 18pc to 791,086mt from the prior-year period, while it fell by 28pc in the tenth month to 63,004mt as compared to the prior-year period.
South Kaveh Steel Company’s steel billet exports in the ten-month period stood at 613,400mt, down by 11pc from the same period in the previous year, while in the tenth month, it fell by 3pc to 78,000mt as compared to the tenth month in the prior year.
In the March-Jan period, Chadormalu Iron Ore Processing Company’s steel billet exports grew by 73pc to 453,033mt, while in the tenth month, the company exported 30,800mt of steel billets, registering a drop of 56pc.
Hormozgan Steel Company’s steel exports in the first ten months fell by 38pc to 437,026 from the same period last year, while its exports in the tenth month fell by 16pc to 92,920mt from the same month the year before.
Kavir Steel Company’s steel exports stood at 350,000mt in the 10-month period, up by 7pc from the prior-year period. The company’s steel exports in the tenth Iranian month rose by 48pc to 52,820mt as compared to the year before.
Bonab Steel Company’s steel exports in the Mar-Jan period grew significantly by 127pc to 69,886mt from the same period last year, while Saba Steel Company’s exports during the same period grew by 98pc to 281,869mt as compared to the same period in the prior year.
