Iran’s lead and zinc extraction in the eighth month (Oct 22- Nov 21, 2020) of the Iranian calendar declined by 9pc to 71,602mt from the same month year prior, according to media reports.

 

The country’s lead and zinc extractions in the first eight months (Mar 20-Nov 21, 2020) of the Iranian calendar stood at 655,850mt, down by 1pc as compared to the prior-year period. 

 

Copper cathode output

Iran’s copper cathode output in the Mar-Nov period 192,000mt, up by 9pc from the same period in the preceding year, according to data provided by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development Organization (Imidro). 

 

Iran holds the world’s largest zinc and ninth-largest copper reserves as per the United States Geological Survey.

 

Steel output

In the 8-month period, production of steel ingots in Iran rose by 8pc to 19mn mt as compared to the Mar-Nov period in the prior year. 

 

The country is aiming to increase its steel ingot output to 55mn mt by 2025.
