Italian steekmaker Acciaierie Venete S.p.A is modernizing the finishing train for the rolling mill in Mura, Italy. The modernized equipment is expected to be commissioned by early August 2021.
The upgrade primarily focuses on the replacement of eight existing rolling stands with modern ones that are lighter and more easily moved from the workshop to the rolling line as needed. The new Red Ring rolling units, installed by Primetals Technologies will decrease change times and allow for easier and quicker maintenance. The existing guidance material will be reconfigured to let the stand sit in vertical or horizontal mode.
The steelmaker’s Mura plant has an annual capacity of 180,000mt and utilized semi-products for production with widths of 220-290mm. Steel is rolled to products with 400mm maximum width and U shapes up to 150mm. The company is also planning on expanding production soon.
Acciaierie Venete has an annual steel capacity of 1.8mn mt from its 10 sites. It serves the automotive and heavy industries with bars, round bars, wire rod, and billets.
