Italy’s crude steel production increased by 78.9pc to 2.06mn mt in April 2021 against the same month in 2020, according to the latest preliminary data from Federacciai, the Italian steel producers’ association. The country’s crude steel production was severely affected in April 2020 by COVID-19 lockdowns. 

 

The country produced 1.17mnt mt in longs products and 861,000mt of flat steel in April 2021 which were up 118.9pc and 31.7pc, respectively, against the same month a year ago. 

 

In January-April, Italy’s crude steel production increased by 29.7pc to 8.35mn mt compared to the same period a year ago. During this time, production stood at 4.55mn mt of longs and 3.64mn mt of flats.
