Japan’s crude steel production in July 2020 increased by 8pc to 6.04mn mt from 5.6mn mt in June 2020 but dropped by 28pc compared to July 2019, according to Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data.

 

The total crude steel production stood at 48.27mn mt during the January-July period. Pig iron production rose by 4pc to 4.3mn mt in July from 4.1mn mt last month. During the January-July period, Japan’s total pig iron production stood at 36.29mn mt.

 

Japan’s total hot-rolled steel production hiked by 6pc in July 2020 to 5.3mn mt compared to 5.05mn mt in June 2010.

Production of ordinary hot-rolled steel went up by 6pc at 4.8mn mt, while hot-rolled specialty steel production rose by 15pc at 1.1mn mt from the prior month.
