Japan’s secondary aluminium output increased by 24.9pc to 405,400mt in Jan-June (H1), up from 324,600mt in H1 2020, according to the data released by the Japan Aluminium Association.

 

In June, the country’s secondary aluminium output stood at 72,300mt, up by 74pc from the prior-year June.

 

In H1, production of aluminium extrusion rose by 8.4pc to 349,700mt compared to the same period of 2020. While diecast output rose by about 28.01pc to 469,600mt against 366,600mt in H1 last year. 

 

Aluminium foil output grew by 18.3pc to 61,500mt compared to 52,000mt. The output volume of cans produced by Japan remained unchanged at 181,200mt.

 

In June, extrusion output increased by 27.1pc to 63,800mt on an annual basis. Production of diecasting and cans grew 89.4pc and 1.2pc to 83,800mt and 32,200mt, respectively.
