Automotive production in Japan increased by 4.9pc in March to 869,937 units against 828,704 vehicles in the same month of 2020, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association reported.
In March, Japan produced 452,367 standard-sized passenger cars, up 5.7pc from 427,651 units in March 2020. Total car production in the stood at 743,145 units (including small and mini-sized cars), up 3.4pc from 718,862 units in the same timeframe.
The country’s truck output also grew by 18pc in March to 120,010 units over 101,105 trucks in the prior year period. However, bus production fell by 23pc to 6,782 units from 8,737 units in the same period under comparison.
