American Zinc Recycling (AZR) has appointed Joel Hawthorne as its president and chief executive officer.
Hawthorne, who has around 30 years’ experience in the industry will be responsible for driving the growth and value for AZR’s stakeholders, while “creating a culture of excellence” within the company, AZR noted in a media statement on Tuesday.
Wayne Isaacs, chairman, AZR, who had been handling these responsibilities until Hawthorne came on board said that in the latter, the company had found a “proven leader whose experience makes him well-positioned” to lead the company.
Prior to joining AZR, Hawthorne was the chief executive officer at Specialty Steel Works, where he had led the company’s operations and business strategy since 2017. According to AZR, he has worked in various leadership positions in the steel, carbon, and graphite product material industries like Graftech International, ACME Metals, and LTV Corporation.
