Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) has received ‘regular rail supplier’ status from Indian Railways for its ongoing and upcoming projects. The approval has come after the UIC 60kg 880 Grade prime rails cleared field performance test. These rails are made at the steelmaker’s Raigarh plant. 

 

JSPL had earlier catered to the railway sector by supplying requisite speciality rails for Kolkata Metro and Pune Metro rail projects. The integrated steelmaker also supplies special grade rail blooms to France Rail, Hayange in Europe. 

 

The mill has also exported 250,000mt of rails through Indian PSUs (IRCON & STC) to countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka. VR Sharma, the managing director of JSPL believes the development to be pivotal towards India’s quest for self-reliance.
