Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) plans to make its Angul Steel Plant in Odisha the world’s largest and greenest single location plant, according to media reports based on the company’s vision statement for 2030. The steelmaker plans to inject Rs1,200bn and raise the plant’s capacity to 25.2mn mt, which will utilize clean energy resources.
The ‘Vision 2030’ by JSPL also aims at developing the iron ore and coal mineral industry and state-of-art infrastructure in Odisha. Development of a dedicated railway line and port connecting the Angul facility, Barbil pellet plant, and Raigarh plant in Chhattisgarh.
The steelmaker states the vision is in keeping with the government of India’s plan of self-reliant India and the Odisha government’s plan to raise the state’s steelmaking capacity to 100mn mt per year by 2030.
