Jindal Steel and Power will supply 2,308mt of head hardened rails of 1080 HH grade to Kolkata Metro Rail, according to the company statement. These special rails are used in high-speed freight corridors and metro rail projects to bear 50pc higher pressure as compared to the normal rails.
The Research and Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) has also approved the company to manufacture 60E1 grade rails along with 1080 HH grade.The order will be supplied once the situation stabilises after the lockdown. The company’s rail mill at Raigarh plant has an annual production capacity over 30,000mt of head hardened rails.
The company’s production levels are maintained and as reported by Davis Index, is exporting billets, blooms, plates, etc to Vietnam, Saudi Arab, Thailand and Europe from its Angul plant in Odisha.
