Pennsylvania based Harsco, a leading global provider of environmental solutions for industrial markets has renewed its multi-year agreement with JSW Steel’s Dolvi works in Maharashtra, India, for its Harsco Environmental (HE) group.
The renewed deal will safeguard operations for JSW Dolvi past the current contract term, with plant improvements to service excess slag processing until the planned expansion at the new metal recovery plant (MRP) takes place.
The existing service contract includes slag processing for JSW’s steel melt shop 1 which expires in June 2022. The expanded renewal will add handling of slag processing from JSW’s steel melt shop 2 starting in July 2021.
The contract will boost operations at Dolvi by meeting rising slag production needs until it builds a single, large MRP at a new site which will also double its steel mill capacity.
The HE division currently supplies numerous services at Dolvi, that includes metal recovery, scrap management and under-furnace digging. The provisions are directly related to maintaining steel production and are vital to mill operations, indicated Harsco.
