JSW Steel will operate with reduced workforce at its Ballari unit in Karnataka after over 100 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) positive cases were reported at the plant. 
The workforce has been reduced by one-third, according to media reports.
The Jindal steel plant is currently operating in two shifts. The administration has imposed restrictions on entry of people into the unit till June 30 along with other necessary precautions to curb the spread of the virus. 
The JSW plant has an annual production capacity of 12mn mt and produces over 800mt per person annually. The plant houses a hot strip mill and blast furnaces.
