India’s JSW Steel increased its crude steel production by 2pc to 1.43mn mt in January 2021 against 1.41mn mt in the same year-ago month.
According to media reports, the steelmaker’s average production capacity reached 96pc in January 2021. In January 2020, JSW Steel reported a 2.9pc decline in crude steel production against 1.45mn mt in the same month in 2019.
Flat-rolled production declined by 1pc to 1.01mn in January 2021 from 1.03mn mt in the same month in 2020m while long rolled production climbed by 5pc to 359,000mt from 342,000mt in the same period.
JSW Steel is part of the JSW Group with a total annual steel-making capacity of 18mn mt. The company is expected to produce over 14mn mt in FY2021 ending on March 31, 2021, down 10-13pc against 16.1mn produced in FY2020.
