JSW Steel produced 3.85mn mt of crude steel in Q2 FY2021 (July-September). The company achieved average capacity utilisation of 86pc in Q2 which is similar to 85pc in the prior year quarter, thereby reaching pre-COVID-19 levels of production, according to a company release. 


The crude steel output in Q2 grew 30pc compared to 2.96mn mt produced in Q1 (April-June). 


In Q2, the production of flat-rolled products rose by 5pc to 2.84mn mt from 2.71mn mt over the prior year. Production of long-rolled products, however, declined by 7pc to 0.77mn mt from 0.82mn mt in the prior year period.

In H1 FY2021 (Apr-Sep), the company reported a 16pc decrease in crude steel output to 6.81mn mt from 8.08mn mt in the preceding year quarter.


The company’s flat-rolled product output in H1 fell by 13pc to 4.90mn mt from 5.62mn mt in the prior year period. Production of long-rolled products was 1.22mn mt, fell by 35pc from 1.87mn mt in H1FY2020.
