Deendayal Port Trust called Kandla port in Gujarat, registered a 9pc growth in cargo handling in the Apr-Dec 2019 period, from the prior year period, according to the official sources.
The port handled a total cargo of around 90mn mt, up by 8.83pc from 84.5mn mt in the previous year. Imports and exports in the period were at 65mn mt and 25.3mn mt , up by 3.10pc and 17.70pc, respectively.
India’s steel trade declined in the period with a decrease in the exports of steel pipes to 82,986 from 0.36mn mt and iron and steel to 0.11mn mt from 0.4mn mt compared to the year prior.
Iron ore import cargo handling also, dropped in the period to 0.4mn mt from 11mn mt.
