Turkish steel producer Kardemir produced 1.29mn mt of liquid steel in H1 2021, marginally up from 1.27mn mt in H1 2020, according to the company’s investor presentation. Production of primary products stood at 1.219mn mt, largely unchanged from 1.211mn mt in the first half of last year.

 

Sales of primary products stood at 1.182mn mt, marginally down from 1.183mn mt. The company posted a net profit of TRY1.42bn in H1 2021, with its EBITDA up by 545pc to TRY323.6mn from the prior-year period. Sales revenues increased by 96pc in the period to TRY6.37bn.

 

In the first half of the year, crude steel production in Turkey rose 20.6pc to 19.7mn mt. Finished steel production stood at 20.7mn mt, up from 16.8mn mt in H1 2020. Consumption of finished steel in H1 2021 was 17.4mn mt, leaving a balance of 3.3mn.
