British miner Kaz Minerals has suspended operations at its Bozymchak copper-zinc in Jalal-Abad, Kyrgystan due to political unrest during the latest election. 

 

According to media reports, protestors have destroyed some of the equipment at the gold processing plant due to which the entire facility has been shut down for safety reason. Due to these circumstances, no date for resumption have been given. 

 

The Bozymchak mine begun operations in H2 2014. Currently, it processes 1 mn mt of copper ore per year, producing around 7,300mt in concentrate form and 6,000mt of cathode annually.
