Kia Corporation’s global sales increased to 1.9mn cars between January and August, up by 18.7pc from the same period last year, stated the Korean manufacturer’s monthly report.
In the first eight months of 2021, Kia sold 1.9mn cars around the world, compared to the 1.6mn it sold between January and August a year ago.
In August, Kia’s global sales rose 0.1pc to 217,204 units from 217,089 in the eighth month of last year.
In the Korean market, the manufacturer improved its sales by 1pc in the January-August period, to 367,547 units from 363,800 in the same period a year ago. In August, the increase was 6pc, to 41,003 from 38,463 vehicles sold.
Outside of Korea, Kia’s sales increase was 24pc to 1.4mn units from 1.2mn in the first eight months of 2020. By contrast, in August sales fell 1.4pc outside the country, to 176,201 from 178,626 vehicles sold.
