KIOCL achieved 2.375mn mt of pellet production during its 2019-2020 fiscal year—which ended March 31—rising by 6pc compared to the 2.238mt it produced during its previous fiscal year.
The dispatch levels also increased by 16pc to 2.356mn mt from 2.206mn mt during its previous fiscal. The highest production target in KIOCL’s guidance for the period was 2.4mn mt.
India’s Ministry of Steel asked raw materials entities to maintain their usual production levels in a March 20 video conference, which included senior officials from Steel Authority of India Limited, Vizag Steel, the National Mineral Development Corporation, Manganese Ore India Limited, and KIOCL—all of which were also asked, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, to frequently test and update their plants.
KIOCL manufactures high-quality iron ore pellets for domestic and export markets. It does not have a captive pellet supply, but transfers iron ore and iron ore slime from diverse locations on the eastern coast, which it processes in its pellet plant at Mangaluru.
