Lebedinsky GOK reached a milestone last month in producing over 750mn mt of iron ore concentrate since the inception of its beneficiation plant in 1972, when annual capacity topped out at 7.5mn mt.

The concentrate’s ore content also reached 69.5pc.

The plant reached another milestone in January when it produced 15mn mt of dried concentrate, for which production began in 2007 with an annual capacity of 2mn mt.

In 2017, the company hit 700mn mt of iron ore concentrate production. Oleg Mikhailov, Lebendinsky’s managing director, said the company has focused on systemic upgrades and overhauling its equipment, which improved ore processing efficiency. He added that hitting 50mn mt of iron ore concentrate production in only a couple of years is proof the efficiency upgrades have been successful.
