Japanese carmaker Lexus’ global sales declined by 6pc in 2020 to 718,715 units compared to 2019.
In the first half of the year, its sales fell by 16pc to 304,000 units from the same period in 2019, because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic across the world. In the second half of 2020, the company’s sales increased by 2pc to 415,000 units from H2 2019.
Lexus’ North America sales fell by 9pc to 297,000 vehicles in 2020 while its sales in Europe decreased by 19pc to 71,000 units on an annual basis. Its sales in Japan dropped by 21pc to 49,000 units and declined by 18pc to 27,000 vehicles in the Middle East during the same timeframe. The Toyota subsidiary’s sales in East Asia fell by 8pc to 32,000 units. However, its sales in China increased by 11pc to 225,000 units in 2020 compared to 2019.
