Ohio-based Solon Specialty Wire and Shaped Wire has been acquired by Liberty Steel USA from Leggett & Platt for an undisclosed price.
The acquisition presents Liberty with the opportunity to enter new product markets in the US under its Liberty Johnstown Wire division. The latter operates plants in Johnstown, PA and Peoria, IL. Solon services the automotive, fiber optic, packaging, and medical markets with drawn steel wire and cold-rolled shapes as well as aluminum selections.
Liberty Steel is part of the GFG Alliance of companies, which is also the holding company of aluminum producer ALVANCE, along with the SIMEC group.
