The Liberty Steel Group has restructured its global board and appointed two key figures to oversee its US and European operations.
The UK-headquartered steelmaker announced that Daksesh Patel would oversee its Australia and US business operations and strategies as president, while Roland Junck will lead its European business as president and interim chief executive officer. Both will be part of Liberty Steel’s board of directors. Under the new structure, the company has also promoted Greg Jones to chief executive officer of Liberty Steel USA.
Jones has been overseeing the company’s Australian business for over 13 years and previously held the position of managing director at InfraBuild Wire.
The appointments come after GFG Alliance reconstituted its global board of directors. Sanjeev Gupta, executive chairman of Liberty Steel, will continue as the company’s global chief executive officer. Additionally, the company appointed Arnaud de Weert as chief operations officer of Liberty Steel Group.
The restructured board and management of Liberty Steel Group will immediately focus on recovering from the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gupta said in a statement.
