Adani Ports and Logistics has announced the closure of its Ludhiana inland container depot (ICD), effective June 25. The move comes after a steep drop in export-import (EXIM) volumes at the depot located in Kanech, Ludhiana district in the state of Punjab.
The logistics company plans to apply for de-notification of the Custodianship under section 45(1) of Customs Act, 1962. The company has incurred huge fixed costs due to the absence of volumes during the pandemic.
Adani would continue to serve the industrial belt of Ludhiana through its other fully operational ICD at Kila Raipur and has urged customers to plan their EXIM shipments, accordingly.
