Canada’s Lundin Mining has reduced its copper output guidance from Chile’s Candelaria mine to 150,000-155,000mt citing an adjustment to its mining sequence in Phase 10 in H2 2021.
The miner said in a statement on Monday that the open-pit mine has fault zones that must be continuously monitored and therefore it has chosen to manage the production risks in an area of this zone, which could impact the overall production at this mine during this phase of development.
Lundin expects its copper mill grades from Candelaria to average 0.64pc grading, which will result in the feed grade averaging 0.59pc copper grading, with mill throughput of around 76,800mt per day this year.
The company had earlier forecasted an overall 25pc increase in copper production to 272,000-296,000mt for this year.
