China’s Luzhou Xinyang I&S has hired Danieli to engineer and install a new high-speed, high-capacity 1.4mn mt per year bar mill.

The new mill will feature split rolling to finish small- and large-diameter products ranging from 12-40-mm, for grades HRBF 400E – 500E.

Starting from 165-mm diameter billets weighing up to 2,500kg, the new mill will operate at speeds of up to 240mt per hour to produce rebar products. Currently in its engineering phase, the first billet rolling is planned for the end of 2020.

Additionally, the mill will also manufacture product sizes 12-22mm diameter with two lines operating at finishing speeds of up to 45mt per second. Larger-diameter products will be rolled on a central line through two housingless stands. The plant will also be equipped with a water-cooling system for on-line cooling of bars, according to a statement from Danieli.

The high-speed equipment will be manufactured at Danieli’s headquarters in Italy and will integrate equipment manufactured by its Chinese arm.

Danieli also announced it was adding a continuous high-speed automated continuous galvalume line to the Abul Khair Strip line in Chiattagong, Bangladesh. Designed for a total capacity of approximately 200,000mt per year with a strip thickness of 0.12-1.0 mm and width up to 1,350mm, the line will process products for construction applications.

New automation control systems at mills are incorporated in new projects to ease and reduce maintenance requirements and enhance the performance of the various lines.
