Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Toronto-based Magellan Aerospace has signed a multi-year extension contract with Airbus to supply aluminum and titanium structural wing components.

According to a release by Magellan on Jun 21, the company will produce the components across its factories in Europe and India. The contract is for precision machined parts and assemblies, which will be fit to Airbus’ A320 and A330 narrow-body commercial airliners. No actual volumes were disclosed by the company.

Despite the slow recovery in commercial air travel, Magellan considers its reliable supply and competitive pricing to be the reason for the extension. However, the challenging times for this sector of the industry are still not over, the release noted.

Recently, the EU and US agreed to drop tariffs on subsidies being provided to Boeing and Airbus, which had led to a 17-year deadlock in trade relations.
