Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Cleveland-based Majestic Steel will open a new steel processing and service center at the Nucor Steel Hickman site in Arkansas. The new facility is set to commence full operations by the end of 2022.

The flat-rolled steel processor is planning an expansive, 515,000 sq ft master distribution facility, which will extend Majestic’s reach into central and southern US markets.

The facility will be near production sites and Nucor’s new galvanized line that is under construction at present. It will also mean shorter lead times for local customers.

Additional steel processing volumes are not being shared during this phase in the project, Majestic Steel told Davis Index. Nucor’s total flat-rolled steel capacity is around 12mn nt per year and the steelmaker operates five sheet mills.

The development will add full-time local jobs and illustrates positive economic impacts brought about by investing in the steel industry, according to a Nucor spokesperson. New deal expenditures have not been disclosed.

Majestic recently announced the acquisition of Merit Steel to expand on the West Coast, which followed the company’s purchase of Las Vegas-based P&S Metals and Supply in Dec 2020.
