The company said that February continued to be a difficult month for Malaysia’s automotive industry but it turned out very well for the company. It said that it was able to continue the production of vehicles in February due to efforts by the government despite the movement control order (MCO) to curb COVID-19 cases in the country.

The company also launched four special edition models like the Proton Persona and Exora Black Edition, Proton Saga, and Iriz R3 Limited Edition on February 18.

In the first two months of the year, however, total sales fell by 3.5pc or by 643 units from the prior-year period.

Proton’s focus in 2021 is on the improvement of the entire aftersales value chain so that customers can enjoy a premium brand experience after buying its cars, it said. The company has decided to invest in a completely new back-end ordering and delivery system keeping in mind the COVID-19 pandemic and movement restrictions in the country.
