MAA said that the increase in the country’s October vehicle sales was a result of new model launches and promotional vehicle campaigns by automakers.

Sales of passenger vehicles in October grew by 5.7pc to 51,795 units, while commercial vehicle sales dropped by 0.2pc to 4,875 units as compared to last year.

In the Jan-Oct period, however, total vehicle sales in Malaysia stood at 398,159 units, down by 19.86pc as compared to 496,855 units in the prior-year period.

Outlook

The association has forecasted that auto sales in November will decline due to the impact of the implementation of the conditional movement control order on all states in the country except for Perlis, Pahang, and Kelantan and from the reduction in traffic volume to automotive showrooms.
