Italian steel plates maker Marcegaglia’s Palini & Bertoli plant improved plate production in December 2020 after utilizing Dan Liners wear plates provided by Danieli Service.
Dan Liners, along with an automatic grease system, are expected to extend the equipment’s life and reduce maintenance requirements. The plant has also been designed to incorporate future technological improvements while reducing machining costs, shutdowns, and mobilization costs. Production capacity was not increased but the modernization improvements will more easily allow for organic expansion should market conditions warrant, the company noted.
Marcegaglia Plates is the Italian subsidiary of the Marcegaglia Group. With a total production of 1mn mt per year, the company’s plants are located in San Giorgio di Nogaro, Palini & Bertoli, and San Giorgio di Nogaro. Outside Italy, Marcegaglia has steel interests in Brazil, Colombia, France, Luxembourg, Mexico, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Spain, Turkey, and the UK.
