In June, carmaker Maruti Suzuki produced 165,576 units, up by 226pc from a year ago. In 2020, more stringent lockdown rules impacted the economy. Production in June was 305pc higher than the prior month when the second COVID-19 wave in India hit businesses.
Production in May stood at 40,924 units. The company had ramped up production in June, as announced by several manufacturers after the drop in May production. Maruti’s May production dipped 74pc compared to April 2021.
Segment wise production
Total passenger vehicles stood at 163,037 units, up 230pc from the prior year.
Light commercial vehicles’ production doubled to 2,539 units from the preceding year.
The utility vehicle segment recorded a jump of 270pc tp 35,917 units from June 2020.
