Indian carmaker Maruti Suzuki’s production in October increased by 53pc to 182,490 units compared to Oct 2019.

 

Passenger cars production rose by 56pc to 135,935 units in October from the prior year. The total output of passenger vehicles, including mini & compact sub-segment, passenger cars, utility vehicles, and vans, was up by 51pc to 176,942 units in October from the previous year.

 

The carmaker, in a release, also states that Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG) has completed the construction of its third plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat, where production is likely to begin from April 2021. Production volume from the plant will depend on market demand and business conditions. SMG manufactures units on a contract basis for Maruti Suzuki.

 

Total vehicles sold in October were 182,448 units, up by 19pc from the previous year.

 

Recently, the company’s Japanese parent Suzuki Motors has forecast a fall of 20pc in vehicle sales this year for Maruti while announcing their results on November 5.
