An aluminum billet and slab ingot facility in Wisconsin is scheduled for its inaugural cast in the first week of October, one year after it broke ground.
The Matalco and the Giampaolo Group facility will be fully operational in Q4 2020. Robert Roscetti, Matalco’s vice president of corporate development, told Davis Index that the conservative production estimate after the facility’s first full year is approximately 100mn lb (45,359mt). By the end of 2022, the Wisconsin Rapids-based facility will have full annual production capacity of 230mn lb.
The facility will serve the Upper Midwest region of Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa, added Roscetti.
Matalco, a sister company of Triple M Metal, chose the site because of its proximity to existing customers, including key accounts, as well as prospective new ones. Additionally, said Roscetti, the state and municipal governments provided excellent incentives.
The 110,000 square foot facility required an $80mn investment and will create 80 full-time jobs.
