Canadian aluminum producer Matalco has invested $53.5mn in a new venture Matalco Kentucky to produce 270mn lb (122,470mt) of aluminum ingots starting mid-2022.
The new facility is located in Simpson County, Kentucky, and will create 60 new jobs, according to media reports. The new plant will produce alloyed ingots from recycled aluminum and will cater to customers throughout the Midwest.
Matalco has an annual production capacity of 1.2bn lb of aluminum ingots with operations in Canada, the US Midwest, and the Northeastern US.
