Russian steel maker Mechel has appointed Vladimir Osokin as the deputy chief executive officer for ecology and environment protection.

 

This is a new position in the company’s structure and Osokin will focus on issues regarding modernization of the group’s facilities, implementation of new ecological programs and manage environment protection measures. A major focus will be the group’s Chelyabinsk plant, which will see an investment of RUB13bn ($176mn)

 

Osokin served as the advisor to the company’s chief executive officer Oleg Korzhov since 2018. Prior to joining the company, he held various senior titles in Russia’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Federal Forestry Agency during 2006-2018.
