Russian iron ore supplier Metalloinvest has invested RUB 533mn ($7.32mn) in upgrading three pellet plants at the Andrey Varichev Mikhailoavsky GOK facility.
This modernization will enhance the company’s pellet production to 5.6mn mt annually with pellet basicity of 0.5-1.1 units by more than 2.3 times, it said in a statement. The increased pellet basicity will improve metallurgical properties and ensure high melting efficiency and lower slag output, so that Metalloinvest is able to match customer requirements.
At pellet units #1 and #2, the company installed modern feeding equipment along with dosing and charge components to enable high pellet basicity while pellet plant #3 was fitted with additional modern weighing devices to enable a pellet production of 0.1 units to 1.1 unit basicity depending on individual customer requirements.
