Australian miner Metro Mining produced 499,000wmt of bauxite and shipped 470,000mt bauxite from Bauxite Hills mine in May 2020. Some delays caused by weather upset the company budget in May, however, Metro Mining expects to comfortably achieve its June quarter production guidance of 900,000wmt to 1.10mn wmt and ship an equal quantity of bauxite in the quarter. 

 

From April to May, Metro Mining has produced 914,000wmt of bauxite and shipped 715,000wmt. The mining company has an adequate quantity of stocks at the port. 

 

The company had produced and shipped 3.5mn mt of wet bauxite from Bauxite Mines located 95km north of Weipa in the year 2019. Metro Mining signed a deal with Xinfa to sell 2.3mn mt of dry bauxite as per off-take arrangements for the year 2020.

 

Expansion Plan

Metro Mining is currently carrying out Stage II expansion at Bauxite Hills mine which will be completed in the second half of 2021. Following this, the annual production at the mine will be 6mn mt. Metro’s production guidance for the year ending June 2021 is between 4-5mn mt.
